Description :

Santa Barbara Junior High School, designed by William H. Weeks and begun in 1931, carries on the Spanish Revival theme that became a hallmark of Santa Barbara architecture after the earthquake of 1925. Its artfully asymmetrical massing once again strives to mimic the appearance of a group of buildings that have accreted over time. The ornate tower is sheathed in polychrome terra cotta, and features projecting miradors on each face, along with four corner niches set off by brilliantly- glazed urns.
