The main lower floor bathroom of the Adamson house provides a showcase of the tilesetter’s art. The relatively sedate floor with its diagonal checkered pattern is bordered in decorative tile; a calming solid band of cobalt blue base tile in turn provides the foundation for the profusion of decorative tile above it. Just short of the ceiling, a band of plain white tile surmounted by a cornice molding of blue terminates the frenetic wall surface and introduces the white-tiled ceiling. The whole composition is crowned by an ornate medallion of individual tiles; its corner is just visible at upper left.
