The plan of El Cabrillo, completed by the Zwebells in 1928, is a close copy of the Andalusia, differing only slightly in dimension, and featuring a nearly identical if less ornate fountain. However, rather than being wood-framed, the entire structure is built with a custom-made concrete brick. Whether this was an extension of the Zwebell’s experimental use of brick in the Andalusia’s turret or an attempt to capture a more rustic vernacular appearance is unknown; however, thanks to the warm texture of the buff-colored brick, El Cabrillo’s atmosphere is unique among the Zwebell’s projects. Seen here is the courtyard, with its turret corresponding closely to that of the Andalusia.
