Description :

Another example of the wide range of uses the Spanish Revival could accommodate, this church-like structure designed in 1927 by Salisbury, Bradshaw and Taylor was in fact a temple of technology: it originally served as a pumping plant for the Beverly Hills Water Department. Passersby peering through the central rose window were surely startled to see a mass of machinery and piping rather than a place of worship. The building underwent extensive renovations in 1990, and now serves as the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Center for Motion Picture Study.
