Description :

Stencil-painted ornament enlivens the ornate beamed ceiling in the dining room of La Loma de los Vientos. Stencil painting involved the use of a fairly dry brush to apply paint through various oiled-paper stencils having the desired motifs; different colors were applied in successive stages to produce an often brilliant and elaborate pattern. The technique had largely fallen out of favor by the end of the 1920s, when the starker geometric surfaces of Art Deco came into vogue. Also of note in this view are the pair of wrought-iron chandeliers, which feature the dripping-wax motif ubiquitous in lighting fixtures of the Twenties.
