Description :

An unusual elliptical vault substitutes for the more typical hewn ceiling beams in the living room of this 1926 Spanish Revival bungalow in Los Angeles. The heroically-scaled mantelpiece, probably chosen from a catalog of the era, is of cast plaster made up in separate mantel and overmantel sections scored to resemble individual masonry blocks. With its abundance of calming curves, the room provides a fine showcase for the owner’s collection of Craftsman-era objects, which includes vintage Stickley furniture and examples of Newcomb, Rookwood, and Weller pottery.
