Description :

Alpha, Omega, Mu Alpha and Omega are the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet. In Christian iconography the Alpha and Omega emblem relates to three similar passages in the book of Revelation. The most expansive of the three passages, found in Revelation 21, reads: 5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. 6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. 7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. Sometimes the Alpha and Omega will have the letter M (Mu) inserted which expands the meaning to the beginning, the continuation, and the end of all things. It is quite common to see the Alpha and Omega symbols in all sorts of religious art, especially on books and clothing. As a symbol the letters are frequently seen dangling from a Latin cross or incorporated in a Chi-Rho emblem.
