Wheel
The wheel is a symbol of the endless force of divine power. The most vivid biblical account of the symbolism of wheels occurs in Ezekiel 1:
15 Now as I beheld the living creatures, behold one wheel upon the earth by the living creatures, with his four faces.
16 The appearance of the wheels and their work was like unto the colour of a beryl: and they four had one likeness: and their appearance and their work was as it were a wheel in the middle of a wheel.
17 When they went, they went upon their four sides: and they turned not when they went.
18 As for their rings, they were so high that they were dreadful; and their rings were full of eyes round about them four.
Other powerful Christian wheel motifs are the Chi-Rho wheel, which is the Chi-Rho cross enclosed in a circle, like the circular rose windows in the French cathedrals that were a symbol of spiritual evolution.
Wheels are used in all cultures as symbols. Buddhists use the Wheel of Existence to illustrate the process of going from one incarnation to the next. Egyptians used the potter’s wheel as a symbol of man’s evolution. In June in ancient Greece, wheels were set afire and rolled down hills to encourage the sun’s chariot to keep appearing every day.
