Description :

Dunlop Mausoleum Woodlawn Cemetery Bronx, New York It looks like Dr. Clark W. Dunlop opened up a mausoleum catalog and ordered one of everything. Columns, friezes, stained glass, busts of the doctor and his wife, mosaic tile, a cupola, a bronze door decorated with turned down torches and even a porch-like addition on the back adorn the Dunlop mausoleum. The mausoleum appears to be Byzantine Revival in origin, but a number of other influences make their appearances. In accordance with Dr. Dunlop’s will, his pet parrot is also interred in the mausoleum. The good doctor pays homage to his feathered friend as can be seen on the “plinth” of the building which are carved to resemble parrot’s feet. In back of the Dunlop mausoleum, peeking out from the foliage, is the Classical Revival mausoleum of financier/robber baron, Jay Gould.
